German Reich until 1918 Leatherhelmet (˜1915)
In this collection since: 10.07.2017
0956 Fire helmet from Germany. The leather helmet shown here is probably one of the most built leather helmets in Germany. The helmet was made in the period after the First World War. It was derived from the M15 used in the German Army. Often the army helmet M15 was also converted to a fire helmet. The helmet has a brass comb, the eye brim is framed with brass, the side cockades for attaching the chin strap are also made of brass. The helmet was worn in the period between 1915 and 1934. On the front, the coat of arms of Bad Homburg can be seen. The lateral cockades show on the right side the colors black - white - red for the German Reich, the colors black - white - black of the cockades on the left side show the imperial country of Prussia. The chin strap, attached to lateral lionhead rosettes, has a special kind of lock at the front. In German it is called Schuppenkettenverschlussglied.
