0935 Fire helmet from Singapore. The black polycarbonate helmet was built by MSA, USA. The helmet type is called Topgard. The helmet was produced in 1972. The valid standard was the ANSI Z89.1-1969. In addition to this standard, the helmet was also released to the standards of Singapore. At the front there is the metal badge of the Singapore fire brigades as it was used on the leather helmets in colonial times.
The badge shows a lion under a palm tree. Below them the words "Let Singapore Flourish" (Sanskrit: Majulah Singapura). Although Singapore became independent from the United Kingdom on September 1, 1963, the colonial emblem has still been used on this helmet.
The name "Singapore" comes from Sanskrit. It is composed of Singha (lion) and Pura ("city").
