In this collection since: 06.04.2017
0910 Fire helmet from the Netherlands. Manufacturer of the helmet is the company Schuberth from Germany. The helmet was manufactured in 1978 according to DIN4840. The DIN4840 (today EN397) was the valid standard for safety helmets. The helmet itself is not much more than a normal safety helmet. He was provided with various attachments to be suitable for use in the fire department. To protect the neck, the so called Holland Cloth, which is widely used in the Netherlands, was installed. To protect the face and neck, a polycarbonate visor was attached. The visor is fastened to the sides of the helmet. The visor has the shape of the frontbrim. Through a spring mechanism, the visor can be fixed over the frontbrim of the helmet. Below the visor is a nomex fabric attached. See also helmet number 0301, Romania.
The helmet was worn at the fire department of the Dutch Air Force on the Gilze-Rijen Air Base. Gilze Rijen is located about 10km west of Tilburg.
Helmets of this kind were also worn by the Navy in Britain and at the airport in London.
