France Synthetic helmet (˜1975)
In this collection since: 17.03.2017
0901 Fire helmet from France. The helmet was built by the German company Schuberth. The fiberglass helmet, based on the US American model, was manufactured by Schuberth Braunschweig between 1970 and early 1980 for export. Schuberth had at that time various helmets in the range, among other things also the helmet "US-FEU" which was also worn in Switzerland (see helmet 0259, Switzerland). Whether the helmet shown here is predecessor of the US-FEU is not known. The helmet with the wide neck brim and the wide helmet brim is made of fiberglass. The material is dyed yellow. The inner helmet corresponds to the German DIN helmet of this time. The plastic strips of this helmet have the following inscription: „Schuberth Werk Braunschweig. Fed. Rep. Germany“ and „DIN4840". The helmet was worn by the airport fire brigade of the airport Basel-Mulhouse (Aeroport Bale-Mulhouse or since 1987 EuroAirport Basel Mulhouse Freiburg). On the sides there are stickers with the inscription: "Aeroport de Bale-Mulhouse".
See helmet number 0756, Belgium.
