Fire helmet from Finland. The white aluminum helmet has a very massive helmet shell. Production by pressing appears to be impossible. A production of cast aluminum is more likely. The helmet form is modeled after the German fire helmets. The German helmets according to DIN14940 were widespread in Finland. They had an aluminum comb in addition to the DIN. (Similar to the helmet 0308, Sweden). In this helmet, the crest is part of the helmet shell. The rear side is pulled back a long time, a neck protection is additionally available. The inner helmet is made of leather. It is not adjustable, the head size is indicated as 58. The chin strap has a 4 point attachment and a buckle for closing. It is unusual that the helmet has no winter lining. A manufacturing mark or number is not recognizable. The helmet should be from the time around 1950. On the front is a coat of arms. It shows the town coat of Rovaniemi as it is common since 2006. The city of Rovaniemi is located at the confluence of Ounasjoki and Kemijoki in the Finnish Lapland region whose capital it is. The confluence of the two rivers is a component of the town's coat of arms. From Wikipedia: Rovaniemi is the capital of the northern Finnish Lapland and lies at the confluence of Ounasjoki and Kemijoki in the immediate vicinity of the Polar circle. The gateway to the north is not only an important shopping center for the settlements in the area, but also a tourist destination.
