Chile Synthetic helmet (˜1960)
In this collection since: 04.08.2015
0694 Firefighter helmet from the Chilean capital Santiago de Chile.
The helmet is from the fire division 6 (6ª Compañia). For details on the fire brigade of Santiago de Chile and the 6 company, see helmet 0504, Chile.
The helmet was built around 1960. It was not manufactured industrially. Like the Mexican Helmet No. 150, the helmet appears to be manually made of fiberglass and painted. The inner helmet consists of a leather headband with 10 triangular stripes. The headband is riveted to the helmet at four points. The head size adjustment is only possible to a limited extent. For adjustment, the cord which holds the leather lashes must be closed. The leather chin strap has a buckle. To the jewelery, a storm belt with rosettes made of nickel silver was attached at the front. The comb is made of brass. It is very solid and with the helmet shell screwed in two places. All in all a simple and heavy helmet. At the front is marked the number 6 for the station. The badge is made of sheet metal and with two wires attached to the helmet.
