France Synthetic helmet (˜1970)
In this collection since: 07.03.2013
0521 Fire helmet from France. Manufacturer of the helmet is the French company Petitcollin in Paris. The gray helmet made of glass fiber was manufactured by Petit Collin Paris at the beginning of 1970. It is made with ornate helmet interior from canvas and leather (see helmet 39). It is the successor of the aluminium helmets from type Adrian, who come from France also. (see 38/385) Until 1990, the helmet was modified and simplified. (See helmet 432). The most striking feature, compared to the newer helmets, are the rivets of the attachement of the inner helmet. They are attached to the rotating visor and not to the helmet bowl. At the front is the badge of the fire brigade of Paris. The silver-colored badge signes an officer. Firefighters had a brass colored badge. The coat of arms bears, instead of the commonly used word "Sapeur Pompiers" and the place name, the word "Fluctuat nec mergitur". The motto of the city of Paris, which originally stood on an island in the river Seine is translated as: "She swims, but does not sink."
