Netherlands Synthetic helmet (˜1984)
In this collection since: 07.03.2013
0515 Fire helmet of a Dutch fire brigade officer. The white fiberglass helmet, whose manufacturer is the German company Römer, is distributed in the Netherlands by the company Kraayer. The helmet type is called “Holland” and was sold by Kraayer as “Innova 2000”. The helmet was built in the 4th quarter of 1984. It adds itself to the shape of the old Dutch leather helmet, which was also produced until 1945 in Germany. The helmet is the successor or replacement for helmet number 102, which was no longer permitted from 1986 due to the electrically conductive metal parts. The helmet with cockscomb has no rank markings and no identification badge on the front, which is atypical. Normally, these helmets were worn with the massive copper badge of the Dutch fire brigades (see helmet 90) or worn from 1984 with a rubberized coat of arms. (See helmet 73/272). The large, lateral cockades were replaced by small plastic buttons. The helmet edge is bordered all round with a thick, rubber-like material (edge protection). The helmet interior is much simpler than that of helmet number 90. Here only 3 nylon straps and a headband with a leather forehead were installed. The helmet has a so-called Dutch cloth to protect the neck. It can be closed at the front with Velcro closures. Also, the stepless adjustable chin strap is very solid. Traditionally wore every firefighter to fire chief a black helmet. The higher officers a white. Because white helmets are more visible, almost all helmets in Holland are now white. Some fire departments have, however, retained the old color system.
