0494 Fire helmet from Austria. What was the German Steel Helmet (aluminum helmet) DIN14940 for Germany, the "Spider Helmet" was for Austria. It was introduced in 1935 in the fire service and ended the helmets diversity that prevailed until then. The Spider's helmet was, however, not worn in the province of Styria. There the German helmet according to DIN 14940 was introduced with comb (see helmet 186). In Carinthia was worn the German DIN helmet without comb, just sometimes combined with the Austrian spider. (See helmet 97). All helmets bearing the coat of arms of the state at the front. For officers the coat of arms was lined with oak leaves (see helmet 97). During the German occupation (1938 - 1945) helmets was worn according to German rule. After the war, the spinning helmet was used again. This helmet bears the badge of the federal state of Tyrol and in addition the signature of the town of Schwaz. The polished aluminum helmet is inside Flocked thin reddish, the inner helmet is manufactured by the German company Schuberth in Braunschweig according to DIN 4840. A stamp "Geprüft F4035" (Tested F4035) refers to the then valid, Austrian standard (ÖNorm). The inner helmet was attached with rivets on the helmet shell. The chin strap has a panic lock. This helmet was made in 1980, while there was this helmet, since about 1960, also made of plastic (see helmets 93/417).
In 1989, the introduction of the new generation of helmets began in form of plastic helmets from the Austrian company Rosenbauer (see helmet 419)
