Fire helmet from Germany. The leather helmet shown here is probably one of the most leather helmets built in Germany. The helmet was created in the period after the First World War. It was derived from the M15 which was used in the German army in 1915. Often, the army helmet M15 was converted into a fire helmet.
The helmet has a nickel silver crest, the eye-shield is edged with nickel silver, and the side cockades for fastening the chin strap are also made of nickel silver. Under this are on the right hand, the cockades of the German Reich (black-white-red) and on the left, the colors of the state of Baden (yellow-red-yellow) attached. At the front, a brass star is mounted. At the center of it, "FF" is to read. It stands for “Freiwillige Feuerwehr” (volunteer fire department). The helmet was worn in the period between 1910 und 1934.
