Switzerland Synthetic helmet (˜1985)
In this collection since: 07.03.2013
0483 Fire helmet from Switzerland. The white polycarbonate helmet was produced by the company MSA as type "Topgard". The helmet was manufactured in 1972. Helmets of this type were very popular and were therefore found in fire departments all over the world (see helmets No.: 79/81/220/253). Similarly, the production time was relatively long. Last helmets were produced around 1985. The helmet was at the Fire Department City of Zurich in use. That has been visible trough the small sticker on the front, showing the coat of arms of Zurich. (City arms with mural crown represents the city of Zurich, the coat of arms without the mural crown represents the canton of Zurich). It is unusual that this helmet was used, although many fire departments in Switzerland use the TELED helmet (see Helm 4/258) or use the helmet from Schuberth. (See helmet 259). With the introduction of polycarbonate helmet Type: P952 (see helmet 527) at 1988, the generation of Topgard helmets was terminated at the professional fire brigade Zurich.
