France Synthetic helmet (˜1960)
In this collection since: 24.02.2013
0470 Fire helmet from France. The helmet was built by the French company Petitcollin Paris around 1960.
The Chartres fiberglass helmet was the competition to the Adrian metal helmets that were in use at that time. He sat not in the fire service. (See helmet 38). Only with the helmets of the type Petitcollin (name like the company name) around 1965, the plastic helmets prevailed. The Chartres helmet is not significantly different from Petitcollin. He has a narrower brim and a narrower helmet crest on the front. Inner helmet and materials are almost the same for both helmets. The helmet has a sheet metal badge with the lettering "Protection Civile" and the international symbol of the civil protection at the front. Civil protection in France (Association de Protection Civile - ADPC) was established in the Côtes-du-Nord 1958. Today, the headquarter is in Asnieres-sur-Seine.
The French Embassy in Berlin describes the organization and their purpose as follows:
This structure, which is affiliated to the Ministry of the Interior, Overseas Territories, territory twill properties and immigration has to centralize risk management in the national territory, except in case of accidents in daily life or major disasters (eg storms, forest fires, floods, industrial accidents, terrorist attacks, etc.) . It includes 2500 civilians and military, which are spread over 60 locations throughout France. In daily life, they support the local action of the fire department, the volunteers, the Unions, and the prefectures and town halls.
