Fire helmet from Romania. The manufacturer of this helmet is the Romanian company General Conf Group (GCG) in Bucharest. After falling of the Berlin Wall in Germany and the other countries of the Eastern Bloc, there was a revolution in Romania against the Ceaucescu regime which was ending on 25 December 1989 with the shooting of Ceaucescu. Since 1990, Romania pursued a democratic and free-market course. One of the first, led by private capital firms was the GCG, the helmet shown here, was one of the first products of this company. It was created in 1994. The helmet was used in the years between 1994 and 2000. The helmet bowl reminiscent of the helmets of Gallet, the helmet shell is made of fiberglass. To protect against breakage of the edges, this thickened inwards. Inside of the helmet, a cotton fabric is inserted. He is partially lined and riveted directly to the shell. Thus, the helmet is not right on the head, two nylon straps were installed as head contact. The helmet offers no possibility of adapting to head circumference. The chin strap, also made of cotton, closed with two eyelets. It is attached directly to the substance of the helmet liner. Laterally on the helmet, holes are attached. They should ensure that you hear something with the helmet. The inspiration for this is certainly the full shell helmets of the former GDR, which existed at that time already. All in all, this helmet appears very purist but will be described by Romanian firefighters as light, convenient and safe. It also gave the helmet with attached, external visor. |
