0394 Fire helmet from the former GDR.
The Silver Helmet is a is a consequent advancement of the GDR fire helmets. The helmet made of fiberglass reinforced polyester (GRP) is the successor of the previous few durable thermosetting plastic helmets (see helmet number 390/393)
These helmets were manufactured from late 1962 according to TGL 121-940.01 and was worn until the end of the GDR. The TGL 121-940.01 regulated since 1962, the production of firefighter helmets. TGL were the technical standards, quality requirements and delivery conditions which was between 1955 and 1990 in the GDR the equivalent of the West German DIN norms. 121 was the area of fire protection and fire departments. The helmets were first produced in a black hammered finish (see Helm 399), then he was silver painted. This helmet was made in the IV quarter of 1964. The stamping on the inside of the helmet interior gives this information.
