Cyprus Fire department cap (˜1990)
In this collection since: 20.10.2008
0323 Cap of the Fire Department of Cyprus. The lid of the cap is made of black felt, the rand (stocking strip) is also made of black felt. The lid is marked by a red bordered piping. The screen is covered in black leatherette. The chin strap, also made of black artificial leather, is simple. He is attached to the side with two silver-colored buttons, on them, the simplified Crest (like on the front) before two crossed batons. The insignia on the front is the emblem of the Democratic Republic of Cyprus. (See Helmet 304). The fire department is still put under the authority of the police and is managed by the government at the moment, so both departments bear this badge. Preparations which shall separate these two areas are going on at the moment (Nov. 2007). The coat of arms of Cyprus shows a white pigeon in a yellow signpost with a green olive branch in the beak. The date 1960 appears under the pigeon in black. The year 1960 stands for the year of the independence of Great Britain. A bipartite, green wreath grows up the shield. The two olive branches stand for the two ethnic groups in Cyprus, the pigeon as a peace symbol. Under the shield stands "Autonomous Cyprus."
The badge itself is kept very simple, it consists only of printed cotton cloth, the badge is sewn on.
The hat was designed and manufectured by a Cypriot company in the divided capital Lefcosia. About the rank of the wearer or the age can noting be sayed.
