0313 Fire helmet of the professional fire department Triest, Italy. The helmet of the fire department 87, Triest (the most north eastern professional fire department of Italy ) was especially developed and built for the motorcyclists of the Italian fire departments. The Italian professional fire departments used Motorcycles for their her reports and dispaching within the years 1950 to 1960 when, in the fire trucks were any radio systems, or the motorcyclists had the task of accompanying vehicles and convoys. The almost unused helmet with the metal badge of the Italian fire departments and the number of the fire department Triest (87) is produced of leather.
The not adjustable inside helmet in the size 56 is covered of several layers of felt. The outer, spherical cover also is made of leather. The edge ist made of a approx. 2 cm thick upholstery, also of leather. The chinstrap is fastened to the two sides. At first he is approx. 7 cm wide, covering the ears for which small holes are contained. A leather neck guard is also available. Two stamps give information about manufacturers and norm inside the helmet. There possibly is a norm 589 from the year 1953 to which the built of the helmet was according. The manufacturer is S.I.M.A.V (Scuotto Industrie Manufatti Varl, Plaza G. 8. Vico 36 Napoli). The company SCUOTTO INDUSTRIA MANUFATTI SNC DI ALFREDO SCUOTTO E C exist today as a manufacturer of uniforms.
