United Kingdom (UK) Synthetic helmet (˜1997)
In this collection since: 12.06.2007
0295 Fire helmet from Great Britain of the fire department Idle, Bradford, West Yorkshire. The helmet of the brand Cromwell, type: F600 is built by the British helmet manufacturer Helmet Integrated Systems Ltd. in Scotland. The helmet, built 1997 according to the EN443, follows the current way and form of the European fire helmets like MSA, Dräger, Schuberth or Rosenbauer. The helmet form sees to the form of the helmets of the German company Dräger the most similar. It is conspicuous, however, that the visor (according to EN166) wich can be pushed inside the helmet, not into the helmet but pushed over the real helmet bell. To the protection of the open visor and for the expansion of the helmet front (eye signpost) a further helmet part was put on on the real helmet bell. This part is fastened merely at the side. The helmet visor is also led here. Both parts are made from glass fiber and painted yellowly. A blow absorption systeminside the helmet gives protection. The head size can, by turn one button, be altered in the size 53 to 63. At the front the helmet bears the badge of the West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue service. All fire departments in the area of West Yorkshire bear a number on the back as an identification of the fire station. So firemen of the main fire station of Leeds bear the number 20, the main fire station of Bradford the 40 etc. The appropriate number 44 is part of the Idle Fire station which is about 6 km north of Bradford's center. The lateral, black stripes, indicates the owner as Sub Officer.
The complete identification is as follows:
Yellow helmet / no stripes = Firefighter
Yellow helmet / one stripe black = Leading Fireman
Yellow helmet / two stripes black = Sub Officer
White helmet / one stripe black = Station Officer
White helmet / a broad black tape = Assistand Division Officer
White helmet / a narrow and a broad black stripe = Deputy Assistant Chief Officer
White helmet / two broad black tapes = Deputy Chief Officer
White helmet / a broader black tape in strength of two Deputy Chief Officer = Chief Officer
