Norway Synthetic helmet (˜1982)
In this collection since: 10.12.2003
0172 Norwegian fire helmet made of synthetic material. The helmet shall date allegedly from the year 1982 and gets so used today. The orange helmet was used at the fire department of the city of Lenvik. The town has approx. 10,800 inhabitants. The model is called Oslo. The very flat form reminds of French Adrian helmets. A cockscomb is in the middle of the helmet bell stylizes. The neck leather is very long and reaches far in front till almost to the eye part! An edge protection circulatingly is fastened of rubber at the brim. The inside of the helmet is very interesting. At first the helmet bell is lined with an approx. 6 mm thick corkmaterial. The inside helmet is assembled with synthetic material latches to the bell. The sweatband reaches to the ears behind and make a form of a hood inside the helmet. The chinstrap can be put in only with a metal hook. The name "Nordiga" stands on the instep part of the chinstrap. According to information of a fire department colleague this is also the manufacturer. The NORDIGA LABOUR PROTECTION PRODUCTS CO.LTD is a company in the Chinese Beijing. Outside there are 3 silver reflektive stripes on eache side, a reflex stripe also goes along the comb. The stripes shall not have a meaning of a function. By the helmet color the Team (blue) and the officers (aluminum nature) was distinguished. While fire chief the simple, unspoilt helmet wore, commanding officers wore the natural-colored helmet with a little shack chain. Today there are different colors for the different functions: Orange for engineers, Yellow for rescue services, Red for fire chief and silver for the commanding officers. The badge was worne in all of Norway. In larger towns by team and officers though, in smaller towns or municipalities only by the officers. The assumption therefore seems reasonable that Lenvik as a smaller town hadn't got himself these coats of arms. The uniform fire department emblem in the center of the star was replaced in fire departments in large towns like Oslo or Bergen by the municipal coat of arms. Nowadays the metal badge is replaced by an sticker. The helmet all in all seems despite his very flat style to be very robust.
Question: Is the Chinese company Nordiga really the manufacturer of this helmet?
