Bulgaria Brass helmet (˜1950)
In this collection since: 14.09.2002
0135 Fire helmet from Bulgaria. The brass helmet seems partly pressed, the shields by hand flanged. Teher are fine hammer blows visible at the inside. The comb is fastened with only one visible screw. The inside helmet made of leather consist of a broad leatherbound volume with protection for the head in the middle and circulating leather material which was tied up on head size. The chinstrap is already equipped with fast seal (metal hook). Brass eyes are plugged in on the two sides. An apparently newer badge decorates the helmet at the front. The badge from an easy red cast shows a red star, into this hammer and sickle, framed by a Kokkarde and leaves.
The brass helmet was introduced after the end of World War II and was worn until about 1960. Thereafter, these helmets were made of lighter aluminum (see helmet 553)
