Norway Aluminum helmet (˜1944)
In this collection since: 02.09.2002
0134 Norwegian fire helmet from the city of Namsos (a town with approx. 12000 inhabitants in North Tröndelag in Norway). The deep blue helmet pressed, from sheet aluminum (from 1944), is successor of the model carried since 1940 made of steel. The helmets orientate themselves at the Austrian helmets type: Vienna. The German aluminum comb seems the time to survive, the helmet is manufactured by the company TICON made of synthetic material today, the aluminum comb is integrated now. In the past, the team (blue) and the officers (aluminum nature) were distinguished by each other by the helmet color. While fire chiefs were wearing the simple unspoilt helmet, commanding officers wore the natural-colored helmet with a little shack chain. The metal helmet star is obligatory. The star is carried by team and officers in larger towns in smaller towns or municipalities only by the officers. Some cities have integrated her own coat of arms, but usually only the general fire department coat of arms is to see. Nowadays the metal badge is replaced by an sticker. The badge is missing at this helmet, a lamp mounting is fitted in his place. The neck leather reaching far forwards, remind of today's Dutchman cloths strongly. The manufacturer stands on the leather inside helmet : LTH.O HOLM & SON OSLO. It is conspicuous that the gap is lined between inside helmet and helmet bowl with felt cloth. The former owner D. Pedersen has immortalized himself on the inside helmet.
