Greece Leather helmet (˜1975)
In this collection since: 21.04.2002
0107 Greek fire helmet from leather, made by Austrian pattern, enlisted rank. Because Austria was significantly involved in the reorganization of the Greek fire fighting system, it is not surprising,to find helmets after the Austrian model in Greece.
These helmets were worn from approximately 1975. The badge on the front is the badge of the Hellenic Republic. It shows the Greek Cross (State Emblem) with the typical cockade (Star Guard). The massive gold chain shed is fixed on the sides and held by two rosettes (lion head). The high comb is made of brass, the sides is decorated with laurel leaves and extends to the posterior neck plate. Officers wore the same helmet, but had additional sidely bay leaf applications. The helmets are now worn on parades of the fire department. Since 1994, these helmets are replaced. Firefighters and officers wore then the Gallet F1 helmet, plated, Lieutenant and Officers wear the Rosenbauer Heros in fluorescent yellow.
