Feuerwehren leisten unverzichtbare Dienste für die Gesellschaft. Sie bekämpfen Brände, bergen Unfallopfer, retten Leben und helfen schnell und unbürokratisch in den unterschiedlichsten Notsituationen. Und das oftmals unter Einsatz der eigenen Gesundheit. Dennoch stehen die rund 1,3 Mio. aktiven Feuerwehrleute, von denen mehr als eine Million ehrenamtlich in der Freiwilligen Feuerwehr tätig sind, in Deutschland kaum einmal im Blickpunkt.

Das soll sich nun ändern: Gemeinsam mit dem Feuerwehr-Magazin, Europas führender Fachzeitschrift für Feuerwehren, sucht IVECO MAGIRUS das Feuerwehrteam des Jahres. Der Wettbewerb um den Conrad Dietrich Magirus Preis, der 2012 erstmals ausgeschrieben wird, soll ein Schlaglicht werfen auf die besonderen Leistungen, die Feuerwehrteams Tag für Tag im Dienste der Allgemeinheit erbringen. Mit dieser Auszeichnung soll die exzellente Planung und Ausführung der oftmals hoch komplexen und nicht ungefährlichen Feuerwehreinsätze honoriert werden. Bewertet wird die Leistung als Feuerwehrteam, unabhängig von der verwendeten Ausrüstung.

Bewerben können sich alle 25.000 Feuerwehren Deutschlands, unabhängig davon, ob es sich um Freiwillige Feuerwehren, Berufs-, Betriebs- oder Werkfeuerwehren handelt. Auch Privatpersonen oder Beteiligte können Empfehlungen abgeben oder Vorschläge machen. Zur Teilnahme einzureichen ist lediglich ein kurzer Einsatzbericht mit den wichtigsten Detailinformationen zu Ablauf, Taktik und Erfolg der Aktion. Die Einsendungen werden dann von einer hochkarätig besetzten Fachjury aus Feuerwehrkommandanten, Leitern von Feuerwehrschulen und anderen Experten ausgewertet und beurteilt.

Anhand der eingereichten Unterlagen bestimmen die Fachleute der Jury die Finalisten aus den unterschiedlichen Kategorien. Aus diesen Finalisten wird dann im Rahmen einer Online-Abstimmung das Feuerwehrteam des Jahres ermittelt. Es erhält neben dem Conrad Dietrich Magirus Preis eine Anerkennung der besonderen Art: Auf das Siegerteam wartet eine Wochenendreise nach New York mit einem Besuch der wohl bekanntesten Feuerwehr der Welt, dem Fire Department New York (FDNY).

Ziel des Wettbewerbs ist es, die Arbeit der Feuerwehr zu honorieren.

Die Teilnahmefrist für den Conrad Dietrich Magirus Preis beginnt am 27. Juli und endet am 15. Oktober 2012. Teilnahmeformulare und Detailinformationen sind im Internet unter www.feuerwehrwelt.de erhältlich. Teilnahmeberechtigt sind grundsätzlich nur Feuerwehren aus Deutschland mit Einsätzen aus den letzten 12 Monaten. Auch Privatpersonen oder Betroffene, die sich für einen Einsatz ihrer örtlichen Feuerwehr erkenntlich zeigen wollen, können sich an www.feuerwehrwelt.de wenden und Anregungen geben oder Vorschläge machen.

By Dr. Jaime Perez Torres, a professional fire man from Mexico City, I got three current firefighters' helmets. The traditional helmets from Mexico will be seen shortly. 

On a trip from 04. Mai till 18. Mai, we will visit Portugal. The tour starts in Porto and leads down to Lisbon.

In addition to firefighters we also visit the Portuguese fire helmet manufacturer, the company Fardequipa in Lisbon.

Of course, I'm very keen on this trip to get an authentic helmet from Portugal for my collection.

On our honeymoon in the Dominican Republic, we were able to visit the fire department of the capital Santo Domingo.
We had an impressive meeting and we are pleased about the helmet, which we got.

Thank you for the congratulations on our wedding. It was an unforgettable day for us.

The honeymoon will take us in November in the Dominican Republic.

In my vacation I could pay a visit to a part of the 700 firemen of the island of Cyprus.
I would like to thank you for the hospitality in this place.
A quite special gratitude to Divisional Officer Yannis of the headquarters of the fire department Cyprus in Nicosia for the possibility of enlarging my collection with an exchange helmet.

In the month of Septembers we welcome the visitors of the Russian Federation and Tuvalu for the first time on this side. 

In the month of August we welcome the Philippines, Romania, Belarus (White Russia), Dominican Republic and Syria as new visitors.  

With construction of my web site I had hoped to be able to present a wide audience my collection.
I am online with the side now since August 2004 in the meantime and I can say for certain it has been worthwhile, my expectations have been realized!
The resonance of the visitors is overwhelming, astonishing the countries the side is accessed from and the number of the visitors increases from month to month.

What has begun as an idea, has now taken a concrete form.

I am pleased to present you today my web site in the new form.
It is also an essential innovation besides the layout that all texts are available in English.
I would like to give attention to the many many nations, this one every month pay me a visit and I hope, that I can reach still more people with the English-speaking side in the whole world.

I wouldn't have thought at the beginning of the redesign that this plan was so extensive.
Already alone the translation of the texts had taken a time of over 3 months.
By the new layout all available helmets must ordered newly and connected.
Without the outstanding help of my web designer Andreas Berger, the project would already have died in the child's shoes.

Of course every lot of helmets also has been added to the collection since the last update, to which you have access now.

Unfortunately, there is no progress on the part of the manufacturers yet, and I can produce nothing new in this area so.
